Bronze Day

Avtandil Chrikishvili, member of Georgian judo team and current European and World champion, earned bronze medal and 200 ranking points at Tokyo Grand Slam. The Georgian (81kg) ended his participation in semifinal by losing to Japanese Takenori Nagase.

Chrikishvili lost by ippon at the 3rd minute and moved to repechage final, where beat Brazilian Viktor Penalber. Before these meetings, the leader of Georgian team overcame Azerbaijan Abdulhag Rasulu, Chinese Hemubatu Eri and Japanese Goki Maruiama.

Nugzar Tatalashvili and Lasha Shavdatuashvili (both 73kg) also participated today, but both lost in the initial stage. Tatalshvili involved from the second round and lost to South Korean Changrim Antan by yuko. Shavdatuashvili beat American Nicolas Delpopolo by shido, Sedrik Besi of Monaco in a minute and 22 seconds, but in 1/8 final lost to Rustam Oruzhov of Azerbaijan.

Tokyo Grand Slam ends on Sunday. Varlam Liparteliani, Beka Gviniashvili (both 90kg) and Levan Matiashvili (+100kg) will fit kimono.
