From January 1, 2015, the wrestler wrapped in doping-scandal will be punished with 4-year disqualification. The United World Wrestling Federation decided to double the punishment just now and the comment of Nenad Lalovic, president of federation, is already published on the official website as well.
“Doping is the biggest problem not only of wrestling, but of all sports. So we decided to strengthen fighting to this problem. With support of World Anti-Doping Agency’s new code, we will significantly increase the number of doping-tests. Financial fines will increase as well. 4-year separation from active sports practically means ending career. Therefore, I warn wrestlers to do their jobs honestly and cleanly fight to achieve success” – said Nenad Lalovic.
In parallel with doubling main sanction, the sanction will be lightened for those athletes who will miss three doping-tests in a row. Now for this violation is a year and a half disqualification. From 2015 the sentence will be reduced to 1 year.
From the last two doping-related cases one interconnects to Georgian wrestler Geno Petriashvili, who was punished after gaining gold medal at the Croatian World Youth Championship in August. Soon it became clear that Petriashvili was drinking Preductal for treatment purposes and the World Federation abstained from the standard sentence – instead of 2-year sanction the athlete got half-year sanction.
