Georgian judo team, coached by Gia Gugava, lost to Japan 2:3 in the final of Miami World Championship. The battle of Guram Tushishvili and Yusel Ogawa turned to be decisive. The main time of the meeting ended without any methods. In the golden time, Ogawa won by the referee’s controversial decision.
The referee ignored the throw of Tushishvili. Instead, fixed Yuko on Japanese’s method and decided the fate of the gold 3:2 in favor of Asian.
The Georgian team was involved from the second circle (1/8 final), where suddenly passed the razor’s edge against Uzbekistan. After the first five meetings, the Georgian five was losing (1:2) and made through to the quarterfinal by the victories of Gviniashvili and Tushishvili.
In semifinal, we saw another tense battle between Georgia and Russia. The fifth meeting decided the fate of the finalist – Tushishvili struck Ruslan Shakhbazov 5 seconds before the final whistle.
Russia and South Korea's youth teams won bronze medals.
Along with boys, the champions and prize-winners were also revealed in girl’s team. Japan won the title of the strongest team. France took the second place and South Korea and Russia occupied the third place.
