The Georgia national basketball team is already through to EuroBasket 2021 as a host country but victory over Serbia in Belgrade is very important.
Serbia, headed by our former coach Igor Kokoskov, lacked some players due to Euroleague and NBA regulations. But we also lacked two leaders.
The game started with the advantage of the hosts and they won the first 10 minutes with 10 points. But then Georgia won all three quarters and beat Serbia in Belgrade!
The Serbs could not stop Thad McFadden and Giorgi Shermadini. The Georgian center earned 23 points, 11 rebounds and made a double-double. Giorgi’s efficiency rating was 29. McFadden became MVP of the game. Naturalized Georgian earned 33 points and 7 assists (efficiency rating – 31) in 36 minutes.
The team of Ilias Zouros gained a very important and prestigious victory. Yes, it is prestige when you beat Serbia in Belgrade.
Georgia is leading the group with 2 wins and will hold the next game against Finland on November 27.
Thank you, boys!!!
Serbia - Georgia 90:94 (28:18, 20:23, 19:24, 23:29)
