The Georgian freestyle wrestling team won the first medal at European Championship which is underway in Rome, Italy.
Elizbar Odikadze won bronze medal in 97 kg. He beat Armenia’s Sargis Hovsepyan 5:0 and Dzianis Khramiankou of Belarus 6:3. In semifinal the Georgian lost to Russia’s Abdulrashid Sadulaev 0:6.
As a result, Odikadze wrestled for bronze medal and defeated Azerbaijan’s Nurmagomed Gadzhiyev 3:2. It is the sixth bronze medal for the Georgian.
Yesterday Mirza Skhulukhia (70 kg) also wrestled for bronze medal but fell to Turkey’s Haydar Yavuz 1:7.
Today Geno Petriashvili and Beka Lomtadze will wrestle in finals. Irakli Mtsituri will wrestle in “bronze final” and Avtandil Kenchadze – in repechage.
