21-year-old Georgian judoka Luka Maisuradze (81 kg) won bronze medal at World Championship which is underway in Tokyo, Japan.
In “bronze final” Luka beat Iran’s Saeid Mollaei by two waza-aris.
Before that, Maisuradze defeated Samoa’s Peniamina Percival, Turkey’s Vedat Albayrak by two waza-aris, Mongolia’s Uuganbaatar Otgonbaatar by waza-ari and Belgium’s Sami Chouchi by ippon. In ¼ final the Georgian fell to Egypt’s Mohamed Abdelaal by ippon.
As a result, Maisuradze started wrestling in repechage where he won over Uzbekistan’s Sharofiddin Boltaboev by waza-ari and Mohamed Abdelaal.
Tomorrow Beka Gviniashvili (90 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia.
