The Georgian judokas Beka Gviniashvili (90 kg), Varlam Liparteliani (100 kg) and Guram Tushishvili (+100 kg) won gold medals at Masters St Petersburg 2017. Gviniashvili beat Donghan Gwak of South Korea in final. Liparteliani defeated world ranking leader Michael Korrel of Netherlands by waza-ari. Tushishvili won over leader of heavyweight world ranking David Moura of Brazil.
The Georgian champions also earned 1800-1800 points. Overall, the Georgian team won five medals in St Petersburg. Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg) took the second place and Vazha Margvelashvili (66 kg) took the third place.
The Georgian team competed in Masters with six judokas and only Zebeda Rekhviashvili (81 kg) could not win a medal.
