Vladimir Weiss: "I Am Staying in Georgian National Team for Two Years"

The head coach of Georgian national team Vladimir Weiss held a press conference before the friendly matches with Cyprus and Belarus. He confirmed that continues to work in Georgian team for two years.

On the other hand, he added that the upcoming two sparring in very important because the preparation for the League of Nations must begun.

Vladimir Weiss (head coach of Georgian national team): “Saba Kvirkvelia is a great player and the reason for his absence is only a minor trauma. Of course, Kvirkvelia is considered as a member of the main composition of the Georgian national team.

As for my future – it is already decided that I am staying in the Georgian national team for the next two years.

Cyprus and Belarus are the teams like those teams we will meet at League of Nations. So obviously, these games will be very good for us to prepare. It is very important to plan everything a year before, because September, October and November of the next year is crucial for us to have a chance to hit the European Championship.

We have chosen Gori and Kutaisi in order to give fans the opportunity to watch the national team’s play.

I wanted to give a chance to young players. For example, Sikharulidze, Papunashvili, Saba Lobzhanidze. This is a future of the team and they deserved a chance. As for Bacho Arabuli, I called him up a year ago in Dubai.

Unfortunately, we do not use many scoring moments and we should pay more attention to this. The team’s recruits did not have a problem of getting used to the team.

I will always be next to Guram Kashia. I think Guram and Java Kankava are the biggest professionals in Georgian football today. I do not intervene in other issues, for me the main thing is footballer, - said Weiss”.

Georgia and Cyprus friendly match will take place on November 10 in Gori, at “Tengiz Burjanadze” stadium. The meeting will start at 17:00. On November 13, Georgian team will play Belarus in Kutaisi.
