The Georgian junior judo team started World Championship with gold medal. Jaba Papinashvili won gold medal in 55 kg.
The 19-year-old Georgian beat Theo Raoul Hebrard of France, Bruno Watanabe of Brazil, Unubold Lkhagvajamts of Mongolia and Bauyrzhan Narbayev of Kazakhstan.
In final Papinashvili defeated Natig Gurbanli of Azerbaijan by waza-ari.
Vano Niniashvili (55 kg) also wrestled in the name of Georgia. The Georgian won over Max Antoniou of USA, Felipe Cruz of Portugal and Daniel Monori of Hungary. In semifinal Niniashvili lost to Natig Gurbanli of Azerbaijan. In “bronze final” the Georgian fell to Unubold Lkhagvajamts of Mongolia and finally, he took the fifth place.
Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be revealed in boys’ 66 and 73 kg and girls’ 52 and 57 kg. Bagrat Niniashvili (66 kg), Tato Grigalashvili (73 kg) and Eter Liparteliani will wrestle in the name of Georgia.
Luka Maisuradze, Tristan Mosakhlishvili (both 81 kg), Giorgi Chikovani, Imeda Gogoladze (both 90 kg) and Mariam Chanturia (63 kg) will wrestle on October 20. Onise Saneblidz (100 kg), Gela Zaalishvili (+100 kg) and Sophio Somkhishvili (+78 kg) will wrestle on October 21.
