16 Medals from Antalya

 

 

Georgian cadet judo team competed in Antalya European Cup. Head coach Giorgi Vazagashvili took expanded staff to Turkey. All medal winners (32 cadets) of Georgian Championship had chance to show themselves. Besides them, 6 judokas who did not win medals wrestled on tatami too.

Georgians won 5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals and took the 1st place. Champions became: Tamaz Kirakozashvili (60 kg), Levan Gugava (73 kg), Beka Gviniashvili (81 kg), Shalva Chocheli (90 kg) and Giorgi Lazuashvili (+90 kg). Apolon Zurabiani (66 kg), Beka Dongvani (73 kg), Adam Varazishvili (81 kg) and Giorgi Gelashvili (+90 kg) lost in the final. Goderdzi Petviashvili (55 kg), Davit Chikaidze (66 kg), Jaba Mumladze (81 kg), Jaba Kapanadze (90 kg) and Zaza Khubuluri (+90 kg) took the 3rd places.

Besides cadets, girls wrestled in Antalya. 2 Georgian girls from 7 stood on the pedestal. Mariam Janashvili (57 kg) competed in European Cup without loss and became champion. Mariam Tsikhelashvili (57 kg) won bronze medal.

After two weeks, cadet judokas will compete in Ukrainian European Cup. After this tournament, two Georgian tournaments will be held and then the main staff of Georgian team will be formed. This team will participate in European Championship in summer.
