Georgia Took the Seventh Place in Budapest

New system of the International Judo Federation left the Georgian team without medal at World Championship in Budapest. The Georgian judokas took the seventh place in men and women’s mixed team championship.

Georgia started participating from the second round and the meeting with Croatia finished 3:3.

Mariam Janashvili (57 kg) fell to Tihea Topolovec. Lasha Giunashvili (73 kg) beat Dino Sumpar by ippon. Esther Stam (70 kg) lost to Barbara Matic by waza-ari. Avtandil Tchrikishvili (90 kg) defeated Dominik Druzeta.

Elene Kebadze (+78 kg) failed to Ivana Sutalo and the score became 2:3.

Heavyweight Adam Okruashvili beat Marko Kumric and Georgia made through to the next round.

In ¼ final Georgia wrestled against Russia and lost without a chance – 1:5.

In repechage semifinal Georgia fell to Canada – 2:4.

Japan and Brazil are in final. Russia will face France and Canada will wrestle South Korea in repechage final.

The final block will start at 18:00 Tbilisi time.
