Gia Tsetsadze, head coach of Samtredia, held a press conference before playing Qarabag in the second leg of Champions League second qualifying round. According to the Georgian specialist, his team is in a difficult situation and has no chance of going through to the next round.
However, Tsetsadze hopes to win the second leg to make fans happy.
“Our goal is to win. Do not compare us to Barcelona or Luxembourg teams. We must make right conclusions and try to overcome several rounds next year.
It is Champions League qualifying round and our team represents Georgia as a champion. We lost 0:5. 4 from 5 goals were scored in 20 minutes interval – two at the end of the first half and two at the end of the match. It happened due to loss of concentration. Qarabag did not let us play our game in offence. It means that Qarabag is a good team.
Those who left us went to better championships. If they had stayed, we would have played at higher level.
We wanted to acquire players in January but could not do it. As for strengthening for Champions League, some good players wanted to play for Samtredia but they did not do it due to finances. For example, Brazilian defender was to join us but then he had a chance to play in Serie B and he went there. Those who we acquired grew up in Portugal and need adaptation. We are still working on adding other qualified legionaries. As for Georgian players, we do not have a big resource.
We will make some changes in composition in tomorrow’s match. I want to agree our captain and point out support of fans. After such a shameful failure, we heard warm and kind words from them. We will try to make them happy tomorrow”, - Tsetsadze stated.
Samtredia and Qarabag will play on July 18 at Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi. The match will start at 21:00. Qarabag won the first leg 5:0 in Baku.
