Givi Macharashvili (96 kg), member of the Georgian youth freestyle wrestling team, is a champion of Europe. Champions and prize winners were revealed in four weight categories in Dortmund, Germany. The first day of the tournament finished with the Georgian anthem – Macharashvili beat Simone Iannattoni of Italy 10:0.

Givi Macharashvili arrived in Germany as a silver medalist of the previous tournament. This year he defeated three opponents before the final: Dimitrios Akritidis of Greece (14:2), Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov of Azerbaijan (15:7) and Ibrahim Cipci of Turkey (14:5).

Edem Bolkvadze (60 kg) and Nika Kenchadze (74 kg) also wrestled in the name of Georgia

Kenchadze took the second place and Bolkvadze took the third place.

Today champions and prize winners will be revealed in other four weight categories. The following wrestlers will wrestle in the name of Georgia: Teimuraz Vanishvili (55 kg), Mirza Skhulukhia (66 kg), Zaur Beradze (84 kg) and Zuriko Urtashvili (120 kg).
