Georgian freestyle wrestling team won two bronze medals at the European Championship, under way in Novi Sad, Serbia. Zurab Iakobishvili (65kg) and Elizbar Odikadze (97kg) wrestled in the name of Georgia.
Iakobishvili started the competition by beating Perica Dimitrijevic of Serbia 10:0. In 1/8 final, he won over Alexander Semisorow of Germany 4:2. In ¼ final, the Georgian defeated Mustafa Kaya – 11:0. He lost the chance of gold in semifinal, by losing to Ilias Bekbulatov of Russia.
In repechage final, Iakobishvili lost to Gitinomagomed Gadzhiyev of Azerbaijan 9:4.
Elizbar Odikadze also lost the chance of gold-silver in semifinal, by losing to Riza Yildirim of Turkey (2:8). Before this meeting, he defeated Georg Gabriel Seregelyi of Germany (4:1), Nicolai Ceban of Moldova (4:3) and Aslanbek Alborov of Azerbaijan (4:1). In repechage final, he won over Magomedgadji Nurov of Macedonia (10:0).
Tomorrow champions and prize winners in freestyle wrestling will be found out in 61 and 74 kg weight categories. Vladimer Khinchegashvili (61kg) and Avtandil Kenchadze (74kg) will participate in the name of Georgia.
