Nana Dzagnidze Is Champion of Europe

European Individual Women’s Chess Championship took place in the capital of Latvia, Riga. Eight Georgian chess players participated in the tournament.

Nana Dzagnidze competed without a loss (6 wins, 5 draws), earned 8.5 points and won the first gold medal for Georgia. In the last round Dzagnidze played draw with Natalija Pogonina (Russia, 2478).

Bela Khotenashvili took the 10th place with 7.5 points. She also qualified for World Championship.

Prize money of the tournament was 70 000 EUR. Dzagnidze earned 12 000 EUR and Khotenashvili – 2 200 EUR.
