Two Gold and Bronze from European Championship

Georgian U-23 freestyle wrestling team won three medals at the European Aged Championship in Szombathely, Hungary. Avtandil Kenchadze (74kg) and Givi Macharashvili (97kg) became champions of Europe and Iveriko julakidze (65kg) took the third place.

On the way to final, Avtandil Kenchadze defeated Henri Aleksi Selenius of Finland (13:8), Nuri Temur of Turkey (7:4) and Engin Rashid Ismail of Bulgaria (14:1). In the decisive meeting, he overcame Zelimkhan Khadjiev of France and won the European title.

Givi Macharashvili opened the competition by winning over Murazi Mchedlidze of Ukraine – 8:6. Then he defeated Vasile Vlad Caras of Romania (10:4) and Yunus Emre DEDE of Turkey (14:4). In final the Georgian won over Georgii Gogaev of Russia.

Iveriko Julakidze (65kg) hold three meetings in the main draw. After winning over Jewish Emrach Gasanov (10:0) and Maxim Sacultan of Moldova (7:4), Julakidze lost to Haydar Yavuz of Turkey (1:13) in semifinal and made through to repechage, where defeated Ilman Mukhtarov of France.

Today, Ramaz Turmanidze (57kg) also wrestled on behalf of Georgia but lost the chance of medal in quarterfinal. He lost to Parviz Ibrahimov of Azerbaijan 7:17.

Tomorrow, the winners will be found out in the remaining four weight categories: 61, 70, 86 and 125. Following wrestles will participate in the name of Georgia: Shota Partenadze (61kg), Mirza Skhulukhia (70kg), Irakli Mtsituri (86kg) and Geno Petriashvili (125kg).
