Guram Kashia: "I Am Angry and This Defeat is Our Fault"

Georgia’s national team central defender Guram Kashia met with journalists after the lost match to Serbia (1:3) and answered their questions.

According to 29-year-old player, their mistakes caused this defeat and we have to blame only players in it.

- Please, rate the meeting

- I am saddened, or to be more correctly, I am angry, because we gave this game to our opponent as a present. We wanted to end everything in the first half, but we could not use moments and lost three points. We have to blame only ourselves in it.

- What is the main reason of this defeat?

- When you create moment, you have to use them and not miss the goals so easily.

- What was the task of the coach? In the second half you were more passive and does your coach instruct you to play from defense?

- In the first half, we were waiting Serbia to make mistake. We used their one mistake, however we had to do much more. The coach said nothing about the retreat. On the contrary, we tried to gain the initiative, but we could not.

- In the current qualifying circle, our team plays the first half at a high level, but fails the second half. What is the reason of it?

- In my opinion, when we miss a goal, then we begin to play well or poorly. It is always difficult when you miss the goal in the last minutes of the first half. It was a very bad factor in today’s match.

- Does the team have a psychological problem?

- No, we do not have any psychological problems. We can talk about the physical, but not psychological problems.

- What can you say about the friendly match against Latvia?

- Perhaps, the young players will play. It is a friendly match and a very important meeting for the young players to show themselves.

It is unfortunate that we have to say this, but probably Guram Kashia is the only member of the team, who never refuses to make a comment to journalists after the game, regardless of the outcome. Today, only two players stopped to talk with reporters: captain of “Vitesse” Arnhem and the author of the only goal Nika Kacharava.
