Second Gold - Beka Gviniashvili Is a Champion in Dusseldorf

Georgian judoka Beka Gviniashvili (90 kg) is a champion of Dusseldorf Grand Prix. The 21-year-old judoka won five meetings and gold medal on the German tatami. Irakli Tsirekidze’s team finished the tournament with 4 medals. Besides Gviniashvili, Vazha Margvelashvili (66 kg) also won gold medal. Amiran Papinashvili (60 kg) and Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg) took the second place.

Beka Gviniashvili beat Baterdene Bandikhuu of Mongolia, Marc Odenthal of Germany, Komronshokh Ustopiriyon of Tajikistan, Eduard Trippel of Germany and Khusen Khalmurzaev of Russia.

Avtandil Tchrikishvili also wrestled in 90 kg. He lost the first round to Nikoloz Sherazadishvili of Spain.

Georgia had Varlam Liparteliani and Lasha Taveluri in 100 kg. However, Liparteliani could not wrestle due to finger injury.

Taveluri defeated La Smith III of America but then failed to Toma Nikiforov of Belgium.

In heavyweight Levan Matiashvili and Adam Okruashvili lost the first meetings. Matiashvili fell to Kokoro Kageura of Japan and Okruashvili – to Yerzhan Shynkeyev of Kazakhstan.

The Georgian judo team will arrive in Georgia by the end of the next week. Before that they will participate in joint practices.
