Vili Isiani, member of the Georgian U-20 basketball team, stayed in Spain and will continue career in Gran Canaria again. The 19-year-old basketball player told this to WORLDSPORT.GE.
Isiani told us his 2-year contract expired with the Spanish club but it is extended for another year.
“I signed contract with Gran Canaria in 2014 and it was expired. However, they offered me to stay. I have played in the second team. As for the main team, I played only in friendly games.
I was in Bosnia with the Georgian U-16 team and representative of Gran Canaria attended that tournament. He liked my game and after the tournament I was contacted from Spain. I spent 10 days in Spain and then, they signed contract with me.
As for my career, I started playing basketball at the age of 11. I played at the Medical University, Dinamo, MIA”, - said Isiani.
Vili Isiani played for the Georgian U-20 team in Division B of European Championship where the team took the 8th place. The 19-year-old basketball player averaged 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in this tournament. Gran Canaria is a member of Spanish Primera Division and took the 5th place in the previous season. However, Vili has not had debut in the main team yet…
