Geno Petriashvili: "I Am Happy that I Was not Left without Medal"

Georgia earned the 7th medal at Rio 2016. On August 20 freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili (125 kg) won bronze medal which is success for the 22-year-old sportsman at the debut Olympics. Though, whoever watched Petriashvili’s wrestling was disappointed with the final result. The Georgian could have gone through to final.

“Perhaps, I could have won better medal but I am still satisfied with the result” – Geno Petriashvili told World Sport after the awards ceremony – I am glad that I was not left without medal. I think the Iranian opponent was better than me and he made through to semifinal deservedly. Hopefully, I made fans happy with my bronze medal”.

Georgia has 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze and freestyle wrestler Vladimer Khinchegashvili won gold medals. Judoka Varlam Liparteliani won silver medal. Judoka Lasha Shavdatuashvili, weightlifter Irakli Turmanidze and Greco-Roman wrestler Shmagi Bolkvadze won bronze medals, like Geno Petriashvili.
