Vladimir Weiss, head coach of the Georgia national football team, held a press conference where he talked about the 2018 World Cup Qualification and the match against Austria. According to the Slovak specialist, he called up 28 football players for the national team but their number will be reduced until September 5.

Weiss stated the whole team will start preparing for the match against Austria on August 29. He also noted he was observing candidates of the national team in summer.

Vladimir Weiss (head coach of the Georgia national team): “I am happy that I am back in Georgia. We will start meeting on August 29. It is my first and very important match in Georgia.

I attended European Championship and watched the matches of our opponents – Austria, Wales and Ireland. We also observed the candidates of the national team and decided to name expanded composition. We selected 28 players but final list will be known later.

I watched the matches of Dinamo against Dynamo Kyiv and at European tournaments. As for the players called up from this team – I cannot agree with you that the called up players played badly. Dinamo Zagreb is a strong team. I think Jigauri and Papunashvili have quite good future. As for Amisulashvili and Lobzhanidze, I cannot see their substitutions now. Dinamo is the best team in Georgia and that is why I called up many players from this team.

The situation in the national team is like in family – if a child misbehaves, you must scold him. I often criticize my players because I want it to have positive effect.

Ananidze was injured and will play in the next round. He started the Russian Championship well and I happy for him. As for Kvilitaia, he will also have time for recovery.

Jaba Kankava is a very important player for us but now he is not ready. I talked to him yesterday and he does not feel good. He has some health problems and does not want to talk about it.

Jaba is our captain and a good player but there are some moments when you lack a leading player and you must find his substitution. We held the last three matches without Kankava and Mchedlidze. We have some options. We have Daushvili, Aburjania and Guram Kashia on the team. We will find substitution for us. I wish Jaba quick recovery.

Giorgi Loria will be the first goalkeeper of the national team. Nukri Revishvili is a very good goalkeeper but he has just recovered from injury”, - stated Weiss.

The Georgia national team will play Austria at the 2018 World Cup Qualification on September 5.
