Adam Okruashvili, heavyweight of the Georgian judo team, lost the first round to Hisayoshi Harasawa of Japan by shido at Rio Olympics.

The Georgian judo team finished participating in the Olympics with two medals. Lasha Shavdatuashvili won bronze medal in 73 kg and Varlam Liparteliani won silver medal in 90 kg.
