Georgian judokas ended up the second day of Azerbaijani Grand Prix. The champions and prize winners were revealed in 73 and 81 kg and 2-2 Georgians fitted kimono in both categories.
Anzor Khmiadashvili and Pridon Gigani (both 73 kg) overcame the first circle. Khmiadashvili won over Slovenian Martin Hojak, but lost to Russian Uali Kurzhev. Gigani beat Ismayil Piriyev of Azerbaijan and lost to Mongolian Nyam-Ochir Sainjargal.
Ambako Avaliani (81 kg) had better result among the members of Irakli Uznadze’s team. He reached ¼ final and defeated two opponents – Owen Livesey of Britain and Shaxzodbek Sabirov of Uzbekistan.
In the same weight, Koba Mchedlishvili also wrestled and in 1/16 final beat Marcel Ott of Austria, but could not do anything against Bulgarian Ivaylo Ivanov.
Baku Grand Slam will end up tomorrow. Tornike Jugeli, Ushangi Margiani (both 90 kg), Beka Gviniashvili, Lasha Taveluri (both 100 kg), Levan Matiashvili and Adam Okruashvili (both +100 kg) will wrestle on behalf of Georgia.
