The Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team gained the second Olympic license. The freestyle wrestlers have gained licenses in 5 from 6 weight categories.
Yesterday, two Georgians earned Olympic licenses at the international tournament in Zrenjanin, Serbia: Greco-Roman wrestler Zurab Datunashvili (75 kg) and freestyle wrestler Iakob Makarashvili (74 kg).
Datunashvili beat Iliyan Todorov Georgiev of Bulgaria (3:2), Emrah Suleyman Kus of Turkey (3:1) and Karapet Chalyan of Armenia (2:1). In final the Georgian was to face Viktor Nemes of Serbia but did not take a risk due to injury and finally, won silver medal.
Makarashvili defeated Alexandros Samanidis of Greece (10:0), Martin Obst of Germany (7:6) and Taimuraz Friev Naskidaeva of Spain (12:8). In final he failed to Jabrayil Hasanov of Azerbaijan (0:11).
Robert Kobliashvili also wrestled yesterday but lost to Artur Omarov of Czech in the first meeting.
Today, Greco-Roman wrestlers Vasil Imerlishvili (98 kg) and Sandro Dikhaminjia (130 kg) will wrestle on the Serbian mat.
