Georgian Rugby Union’s Disciplinary Committee discussed disciplinary violations, which took place on March 27, in the match of “Batumi” and “Armia” Tbilisi in Poti and created sentences.
While discussing members of Disciplinary Committee relied on commissioner’s report, main referee – statements of Nika Amashukeli and helping referees, as well as the official video and it was established that head coach of “Armia” Niko Chavchavadze incorrectly appealed to referee’s decisions, acted unethically and unsportsmanlike. As a result, he is disqualified for three weeks and the club fined with 500 GEL;
The representative of Tbilisi club Jaba Kiziria verbally and physically assaulted the referee for which he got 5-year disqualification and the club fined with 5 000 GEL;
Another representative of the club Giga Chachava verbally assaulted the referee. He got 1-year disqualification and the club was fined with 2 000 GEL;
As for the players – Giorgi Aptsiauri and Ilo Surguladze argued with referee, talked rudely, aggressively and abusively. For this, they were disqualified for three weeks and the club was fined with 200-200 GEL;
Thus, “Armia” is imposed to pay about 8 000 GEL and as for the players and the head coach, they have to complete disciplinary sentence until the next season’s initial rounds. However, the case was not over and now the team’s fate is in the hands of the Board of Rugby Union.
It is not known, when the board will gather to discuss the matter.
