Georgian anthem was sung on the final fourth day of European Championship in Riga. The heaviest member of the Georgian freestyle wrestling team Geno Petriashvili won the gold medal.
15 sportsmen wrestled in 125 kg. In the first meeting, Petriashvili won over Taha Akgul of Turkey.
In ¼ final, the Georgian wrestler beat Daniel Ligeti of Hungary – 14:4 and in semifinal won over European and World Championship 2013 finalist Alen Zaseyev of Ukraine – 9:6.
In the decisive meeting, Petriashvili beat Robert Baran of Poland.
The men’s 70kg final ended up with Georgia-Poland match-up. Davit Tlashadze lost to Magomedmurad Gadzhiev of Poland (0:7).
Tlashadze beat three opponents – Petteri Johannes Martikainen of Finland, Nikolay Goshev Kurtev of Bulgaria 3:1, Adrian Ionut Moise of Romania 8:4.
The Georgian freestyle wrestling team ended up the European Championship with 2 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze medals and 59 points. Russian team occupied the second place with 54 points.
From tomorrow, for two days, Greco-Roman wrestling team will occupy the Latvian carpet and 8 Georgian wrestlers will be involved.
