The Georgian boxer Avtandil Khurtsidze overcame the American Antoine Douglas in the battle held under the auspices of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and in the average weight won the title of international champion.
Bethlehem, US state of Pennsylvania, hosted the Georgian-American confrontation. 23-year-old Douglas was considered as the favorite, who had no losses until yesterday – 19 wins (13 knockouts), 1 draw.
10-round confrontation of Khurtsidze and Douglas ended up before the term as the result of Khurtsidze’s strongest attack.
Thus, Khurtsidze celebrated 32th victory (20 knockouts) in his professional career and became the owner of WBO International belt. “I showed everyone what I can do. I practice a lot and I want to have more significant battles in the future”, - said the Georgian boxer, who is mentioned as “mini-Mike Tyson” in the reviews of American media.
