Georgian Anthem in Tokyo

Six members out of 11 from the Georgian national team were involved in Tokyo Grand Slam and two of them reached the podium. Avtandil Chrikishvili (81 kg) gained the historic gold medal at Jigoro Kano Memorial. Nugzar Tatalashvili (73 kg) won bronze medal.

The best sportsman of Georgia 2013-2014 overcame Korean Lee and the second wrestling day ended up with the anthem of Georgia. By this victory, Chrikishvili earned gold medal and 500 ranking points.

On the way to final, Avtandil Chrikishvili won four meetings.

In repechage final, Nugzar Tatalashvili won over his teammate Lasha Shavdatuashvili by waza-ari and gained bronze and 200 points. Shavdatuashvili earned 100 points and took the 5th place.

Tatalashvili opened the Grand Slam by beating Portuguese Jorje Fernandes. He won over Japanese Soichi Hashimoto by Yuko and also took revenge over Slovenian Rok Drakshic. The Georgian lost the chance of gold-silver in semifinal by losing to Japanese Hirouki Akimoto.

Lasha Shavdatuashvili held three meeting in the main draw. He won over Spanish Kioshi Uemacu by Yuko and Egyptian Muhamed Moieldin. In ¼ final lost to South Korean Changrim An and in bronze final won over Arthur Margelidon.

Today, Ushangi Margiani (81 kg) also involved in Grand Slam competition. He earned 80 points and took the 7th place.

Jigoro Kano Memorial will end up tomorrow. Champions and prizewinners will be found out in men in 90, 100 and +100 kg weight categories. Varlam Liparteliani will wrestle in 90 kg. he will be involve in the competition from the second circle.

Beka Gviniashvili also will take part in the competition, but this time in 100 kg.

Lasha Guruli will represent Georgia in 100 kg. He will open the tournament by facing French Siril Mare.

Adam Okruashvili and Levan Matiashvili will participate in the heavy weight category.

Preliminary stage meetings will start at 04:30 Tbilisi Time.
