Nika Kvekveskiri: "These Matches are Incitement for Me to Work Harder and Grow as a Player
"We will Do Our Best to Make Georgian People Happy"

Midfielder of “Inter” Baku Nika Kvekveskiri was one of the best in the matches against Gibraltar and Germany. It should be noted that these games were debut matches for Kvekveskiri.

In the conversation with worldsport.ge, Nika estimated the last matches of the national team positively and added that he and the team members will do everything to make Georgian people happy.

-Can you estimate the Georgian national team’s game against Germany?

-I think that there was more positive than negative in our game. We saw potential that the team has. The Georgian national team can make the Georgian people’s dream come true. I do believe.

-You showed yourself quite well in this match, despite the fact that you had no experience to play at such level so far. Did you expect such game?

-To tell the truth, I expected better game. This was not my best game. I believe I can better. This match was a great incitement for me to work harder and grow as a player.

-You were playing the second match for the team and was close to score against one of the best goalkeepers of the world. What did you feel in that episode?

-There was a hundredth of a second, when I though that the goal was scored, but unfortunately I could not. However, after this, Jaba Kankava scored a beautiful goal and great joy followed it.

-You spent 78 minutes on the field. Then, the head coach replaced you and we missed a goal. What was the reason of replacement?

-I was very tired because I had to play 3 matches in 7 days and the head coach noticed it and made such decision.

-The new qualifying circle starts in September. How real is to think about success from this point?

-Each member of the team, including the coaching staff and the players, are focused to achieve our concrete goal and this goal is to hit the top three. I believe we can and we will do our best to achieve this goal.

-Which opponent can you distinguish?

-Anyone can beat anyone and I think there will be destiny in the tournament schedule and a few teams can suddenly make though to the final stage. I hope, one of them will be our team.

-Now let’s go back to the match against Germany. The world champions have a number of high-class players, but who was the best in your opinion?

-All of them are top-level players and everyone knows their abilities well. But in my opinion, Mesut ozil’s talent and class had the decisive influence on the game.

-Let’s say something about the club. How you adapted “Inter” Baku and what is the difference between our and Azerbaijani Championship?

-I adapted very soon. Georgians are respected there and they were well-disposed towards me from the first days. At the same time, working with a coach like Zaur Svanadze is a great comfort for the young player. As for the level, unfortunately, Azerbaijan is slightly ahead of us.

-As you mentioned Svanadze, what can you say about Kakha Tskhadadze and his training process?

-Tskhadadze prefers offensive, combinational football and most importantly, every player knows their instructions on what to do on the field. These matches have shown that the team clearly develops and first of all, this is a merit of the head coach.

-Are you going to change the club?

-Not yet, but every player wants to play in better league and team, I am no exception. However, today I am a player of “Inter” and I am doing everything for this team.

-Which Championship and team attracts you the most?

-Spanish Primera Division and “Barcelona” Catalonia.
