Vazha Zhvania, chairman of Veteran Footballers Union, made a statement for the media:
“I want to sincerely say that the demand of the whole football world is to release that man, who wanted to participate in the elections and was arrested. Today the court is appointed, which is retarded for some reasons. This is unacceptable. No matter who wins the elections. Such situation is for the first time. Rezo Arveladze and we worry about it. Let they release that man. He comes or not at the congress, is another matter. The elections should be held after that”.
Revaz Arveladze made a comment after Zhvania:
“I did not take part in any negotiations with UEFA representatives. I met with UEFA Vice President and shook hand. I am grateful to Vazha, who said that there is no one locked. There should not be talk about presidency if the man must be in prison. If I lose, I will be defeated, if I gain victory, I will be winner. The fact that this man is in prison is my responsibility. Either I want this election to be held. I really do not want this situation be associated with my name. I call delegated sitting here to register. After the elections, I will recognize any outcome. I am in a very bad situation”.
