Today’s press conference held in Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry was dedicated to the successful participation of U-15 and U-17 weightlifters at the European Championship.
The Minister Tariel Khechikashvili, Weightlifting Federation’s President Kakhi Kakhiashvili, national team’s head coach Giorgi Asanidze and silver medalist of U-17 European Championship Revaz Davitadze met journalist.
“I want to congratulate the whole Georgia this success. It is very good that our boys get used to victories at this age. I would like to wish our team success in future tournaments. As for the steps of the government, we fully contribute to the popularization of this sport and it is clear this will continue in future as well”, - said Tariel Khechikashvili.
“Congratulations on the success of our athletes, they made us happy! They gained 8 medals at the European Youth Championship! I also would like to thank the Ministry for helping us”, - said Kakhi Kakhiashvili.
European Championship among U-15 and U-17 weightlifters took place in Sweden. In U-15 team, Archil Malakmadze (56kg) gained silver in snatch (93kg) and in clean and jerk (110kg) and overall standings (203kg) two bronze medals. Eduard Kakabadze (62kg) took the 4th place (98+111=209kg).
In U-17, Irakli Chkheidze (77kg) gained two bronze and Revaz Davitadze (77kg) earned gold in clean and jerk (164kg) and in snatch (136kg) and overall standings (300kg) – silver.
