Two Gold Finish

On the second day of the World Youth Championship, taking place in Salvador De Bahia (Brazil), Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team won two gold medals.

Ramaz Zoidze (66kg) and Zviad Pataridze (120kg) reached the highest step of the podium. Zoidze hold 4 meetings on the way to final. He outdid Finnish Mathias Lipasti (8:4), Turkish Arslan Chengriz (11:2), Hungarian Oto Losonc (8:0) and Azerbaijani Rahim Miraylov (3:2). In final, he did not leave a chance to the Russian Akhmed Kaitsukov – 11:2.

Zviad Pataridze (120kg) beat Turkish Ildirim Osman (12:4), Belarusian Pavel Rudakou (8:0), Kazakh Talgat Zhientayev, American Samuel Stoll (8:0) and Russian Sergey Semanov (3:1).

Yesterday, Europe’s current champion Irakli Shavadze (55 kg) and Giorgi Melia (84kg) also involved in the World competition, but stayed beyond the top three.

Thus, the team coached by Zaza Silagadze, ended up the tournament with 4 gold and 1 silver medals. On the first day of the competition, Gela Bolkvadze (74kg) and Nikoloz Kakhelashvili (96kg) became champions and Nugzar Tsurtsumia (50kg) lost in final.

Today and tomorrow, girls will participate in the competition. On the last two days of the Championship (August 15-16), freestyle wrestling youth team will be involved.
