EYOF Tbilisi 2015 closing ceremony took place in the Olympic village. The Movement Theater artists opened the ceremony. Later, ensemble “Mdzlevali” performed a Georgian anthem.
After the anthem, the flags of the participant countries were taken to the stage.
Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, made a speech:
“Each second of this festival is precious to me. During this week I witnessed dedication to work, professionalism, courage and endurance, teamwork and fair play.
Many thanks go to coaches, athlete parents, their families, EYOF Organizing Committee chairman Mr. Aleksi Akhvlediani, Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, each organizers and volunteers” – noted Garibashvili.
EOC president Janez Kocijancic also made a speech:
“We saw friendship, fair play. You have filled Tbilisi with a great energy. I want to thank Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Organizing Committee chairman Mr. Aleksi Akhvlediani, Tbilisi City Hall and all organizers. Also, I want to thank Leri Khabelov, president of the Georgian Olympic Committee” – stated Kocijancic.
After Kocijancic, Davit Narmania, Mayor of Tbilisi, addressed the audience:
“These were unforgettable days. The guests will never forget this city” – noted Narmania.
2017 Youth Olympic Festival will be held in Gyor, Hungary. The Olympic flag was handed over to David Pekete, deputy Mayor of Gyor.
There will be nine sports on the program of the 2017 Summer EYOF. Flat-water canoe/kayak sprint will be added to the Youth Olympic Festival.
