Zurab Khizanishvili, former defender of the Georgia national football team, played for “Samtredia”. His contract expired in May and now he is looking for a new club. According to the 33-year-old football player, he has some suggestions from foreign clubs.

“World Sport” contacted the player and talked about interesting issues. Khizanishvili summarized previous two matches of the national team. Besides that, Zurab recalled Scottish and English adventures.

- Have you left “Samtredia”?

- Yes, my contract expired in May and I left the team.

- Do you have suggestions from other clubs?

- Yes, I do. Negotiations are underway with some clubs.

- Foreign clubs or Georgian ones?

- Foreign clubs and let us see what will happen.

- How would you recall your time in “Samtredia”?

- I had a good time in “Samtredia”. I made friends with a lot of people. Unfortunately, we finished season badly but everything happens in football.

- How do you think playing with experienced players, like you and Aleksandre Iashvili, will help young Georgian players to improve their level?

- It is very good. It is stimulus for young players, teams and fans.

- How would you summarize last two games of the national team?

- I have watched both games. The first match was against Ukraine. Georgia played well from defense to offence and from offence to defense. The second match was against Poland. The boys did their best and had a good chance to equalize score. At the end of the match, in my opinion, the Georgians were tired and lost concentration. I am a football player and I have also been tired at the end of the match.

- Zura, you have played in Premier League of England and Scotland. Then, you played in Turkish Super Lig. Which one was the most positive for you?

- Both periods were good. “Rangers” is a good team. I was only 21 and I played in Champions League. I have played with Claudio Caniggia, Frank and Ronald de Boers, Shota Arveladze and others. I spent 6 years in “Blackburn Rovers”. In this period I played for “Reading” and “Newcastle United” on loan.

- You mentioned some famous football players. Which was the best?

- In my opinion, Frank de Boer. However, I also want to name Norway’s Henning Berg. He came from “Manchester United” on loan and was already very experienced player. I gained a lot of experience from him. I would name Kakha Kaladze in the national team. Kakha was a great player. Also, I want to name Malkhaz Asatiani and Aleksandre Amisulashvili. I have won good matches with these boys. However, we could have achieved more…
