European U-19 Championship elite round goes on. In the second round the Georgian U-19 team played Portugal and needed 3 points.
The Georgians gained advantage in the first half but Portugal managed to advance.
At the 3rd minute Pedro Rodrigues scored a penalty – 0:1.
The Georgians had a chance to equalize score in five minutes. Otar Kiteishvili and Giorgi Beridze played a good combination. Beridze kicked the ball but missed the target.
At the 11th minute Zarandia tried to score a goal from 25 meters but Portuguese goalkeeper Joel caught the ball.
At the end of the half Giorgi Devdariani’s team played more actively and it paid off. At the 44th minute Kiteishvili kicked from a long distance and Joel parried the ball on corner. Luka Zarandia took a corner kick and Zurab Malania scored a goal – 1:1. The first half finished draw.
The second half also started with advantage of the Georgians. Goshteliani scored a goal at the 49th minute.
Devdariani’s team had a chance to increase the score at the 60th minute. Goshteliani had an effort on goal but he was offside.
Unfortunately, Flavio Silva equalized score at the 70th minute – 2:2.
At the 76th minute Gil Dias scored a goal and Portugal advanced.
The Georgians could not save the match and finally, lost 2:3. They lost 2 matches in a row and lost a chance to go through to final stage. Devdariani’s team will hold the next match against Turkey.
