Kote Mikautadze, player of the Georgia national rugby union team and “Toulonnais”, played 80 minutes for “The Barbarians” against Ireland and helped the team win 22:21.
The 23-year-old was very active. At the 32nd minute Ian Madigan and Jack McGrath gave Kote two heavy blows in the back. Mikautadze needed medical assistance. The Georgian endured pain and played till the end. Referee sin-binned McGrath.
These episodes were discussed. McGrath may not be allowed to play at World Cup and Madigan may receive a 10-week ban. Josef Schmidt, head coach of the Ireland national team, stated he will discuss this episode and make a decision.
Fortunately, injury is not severe and Kote feels good now. “The Barbarians” will play England on May 31.
