Judo Grand Prix started in Zagreb, Croatia. The Georgian team participates with incomplete staff. On the first day of 3-day tournament, May 1, Vazha Margvelashvili and Tornike Tatarashvili (both 66 kg) were involved in the tournament but bothe of them stayed beyond the top three.
Margvelashvili lost to German Sebastian Seidl and Tatarashvili ended his participation in the quarterfinal by losing to Giorgii Zantaraia of Ukraine. The last one became the champion.
Before the battle with Zantaraia, Tatarashvili beat Jaime Matta of Aruba and Slovenian Andraz Jereb. In repechage lost to British Nathon Burns. Finally, the Georgian took the 7th place and earned 48 ranking points.
Yesterday, champions and prizewinners were found out in 60 kg weight category, where Armenian Hovhannes Davtyan overcame all participants. As for women, champions and prizewinners were revealed in 48, 52 and 57 kg weight.
Today, champions will be found out in 73 and 81 kg in men and 63 and 70 kg in women. Lasha Shavdatuashvili, Pridon Gigani (both 73kg), Zebeda Rekhviashvili, Giorgi Papunashvili (bth 81 kg) and Ester Stamm (70kg) will fit kimono.
