The Georgian judo team won one bronze medal on the first day of Samsun Grand Prix. Lukhum Chkhvimiani (60 kg) stood on the pedestal and earned 120 ranking points.
Chkhvimiani beat Mohamed Rebahi of Algeria by waza-ari, Ludwig Paischer of Austria and Alon Rahima of Israel. In ¼ final the Georgian judoka lost gold-silver chance to Sharafuddin Lutfillaev of Uzbekistan.
In repechage semifinal Chkhvimiani defeated Amartuvshin Dashdavaa of Mongolia. In “bronze final” the Georgian won over another Diyorbek Urozboev by yuko.
In 66 kg Tristan Peikrishvili lacked only one victory to the pedestal. In ¼ final the Georgian failed to Rishod Sobirov of Uzbekistan. Before that Peikrishvili beat three opponents – Muhammet Artykov of Turkmenistan, Dzmitry Shershan of Bulgaria and Sergey Lim of Kazakhstan.
In repechage Tristan won over Charles Chibana of Brazil and then lost to Abdula Abdulzhalilov of Russia. Finally, the Georgian took the 5th place and earned 60 ranking points.
Other two Georgians also wrestled on Samsun tatami today. Giorgi Brolashvili (60 kg) and Vazha Margvelashvili (66 kg) lost Top 3 places at the first stage.
Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be found out in 73 and 81 kg. Nugzar Tatalashvili, Zviad Kapanadze (both 73 kg), Ushangi Margiani and Zebeda Rekhviashvili (both 81 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia.
