The Draw of Tbilisi Grand Prix was Held

The draw of Tbilisi Grand Prix in judo and pre-tournament press conference took place in hotel “Holiday Inn”. Tbilisi Sports palace will host this tournament on March 20-22. 400 sportsmen of 45 countries will participate in Tbilisi Grand Prix. Georgia will be presented by 29 sportsmen.

Davit Kevkhishvili (president of Georgian Judo Federation): “The draw underwent well. All organizational issues are solved and we are ready to host this tournament”.

Vladimir Barta (sports director of IJF): “It is quite important tournament, where the world’s best judokas take part. I will success to all of them”.

Varlam Liparteliani (member of Georgian judo team): “As far as you know, Georgian judo has a great tradition. Taking part in such prestigious tournament is very important, especially when you participate at home. I would like to wish all the sportsmen success, especially Georgians”.

Tomorrow the champions and prizewinners among men will be revealed in 60 and 66 kg weight categories.

Amiran Papinashvili, Paata Merebashvili, Lasha Giunashvili and Lukhum Chkhvimiani will wrestle in 60 kg and Mindia Liluashvili, Tornike Tatarashvili, Vazha Margvelashvili and Shalva Kardava in 66kg.

Amiran Papinashvili will not take part in the first round and in the second round he will face the winner among Turkish Ahmet Sahin Kabas and Mongolian Cogtbaatar Cendochir.
