Georgia Beat Spain

In the 3rd round of European Championship, Georgian national rugby team defeated Spain in Madrid 26:13 and because Romania lost to Russia (13:16) returned its first place.

The first half turned to be tense, Spain promoted twice, at first by penalty and then by try. Merab Kvirikashvili restored balance by penalty and conversion (Zurab Zhvania scored a try), then promoted visitors by penalty, but the host restored their balance before the break – 13:13.

The “Lelos” were making many mistakes, but in the second half managed to take 13 points and finally won 26:13. Kvirikashvili increased the advantage of the Georgians by two penalties, then Spain countered, but the visitors defended themselves well and finally fixed the final score by the try of Davit Kacharava and conversion of Kvirikashvili.

In the second half, when the tension reached a peak, referee dismissed one Spanish and two Georgians – Giorgi Nemsadze and Levan Datunashvili.
