In the renewed ranking of Federation Cup, Georgian women team advanced with 7 positions and occupied the 32th place with 1360 points. The reason of this became the successful play of Georgian tennis players in the I group of Euro-African zone, which took place at the beginning of February.
Recall, that Georgians beat Portugal (2:1) and Bulgaria (2:1) in the Budapest tournament (Hungary), lost to Belarus (0:3) and Turkey (1:2) and achieved their object – kept their place in the I group of Euro-African zone.
For instance, 97 teams are in the ranking of Federation Cup. Georgian team is ahead of such countries, as Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Austria and others are.
Czech leads the classification with great advantage (27 355 points), then comes Italy (17 025), Germany (16 475), Russia (15 597.50) and France (8 905).
It is interesting, that Czechs occupy the first place in Davis Cup (men) ranking and the Georgian team is in the 84th position with 23.75 points among 133 countries.
It should be also said that the Georgian men have another test on July 15-18 in San Marino, when they will fight for rising in the II group of Euro-African zone.
In the III group Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Norway and San Marino will play besides Georgia and 2 best of them will gain the right to move to the upper level.
