The Georgian judo team will start the new season next weekend in Sofia by the European Open tournament. The team’s coaching staff, led by Irakli Uznadze, have already named the composition for Bulgarian tatami. According to the facebook page of Judo Federation, 23 Georgians will be involved in the upcoming competition.
It was known in advance that the Georgian team would arrive in Sofia without leaders. Amiran Papinashvili (60kg), Nugzar Tatalashvili, Lasha Shavdatuashvili (both 73kg), Avtandil Chrikishvili (81kg), Varlam Liparteliani, Beka Gviniashvili (both 90kg), Adam Okruashvili and Levan Matiashvili (both +100kg) will return to international tournament later. The team formed with champions and prizewinners will arrive in Bulgaria. Lukhum Chkhvimiani (60kg) and Aleksandre Mskhaladze (100kg) will join them. Chkhvimiani took the 5th place in the Georgian Championship and Mskhaladze lost in the initial stage.
