The Georgian football players, goalkeeper Giorgi Loria and forward Giorgi Merebashvili will play for OFI Crete till the end of the current season.
The Greek club has financial crisis. The players have not received salaries since September. Loria and Merebashvili have 2-year contracts with OFI but the sides decided to cancel contracts at the end of the season. The goalkeeper of the Georgian national team made this statement on the “Georgian Public Broadcaster”.
“The club has financial problems. We have not received salaries since September and many players have left the team. Giorgi and I have 2-year contracts with the club. We will stay in the team until May. A lot of clubs were interested in us. We are not allowed to change 3 clubs in the season and we have to stay.” – stated Giorgi Loria.
On November 22 OFI beat “Panthrakikos” 4:0 in 1/8 final of Greek Cup. The Georgians played from start to finish. Merebashvili scored goal at the 28th minute – 2:0.
The both Georgians joined OFI in summer 2014 and became leaders of the team. Giorgi Loria was named the best goalkeeper of the first circle.
Yet, it is not known where the Georgians will continue their career.
