Three Georgian football players Mikheil Meskhi, Slava Metreveli and Givi Chokheli won gold medals at the 1960 European Championship.
On July 10 the Soviet Union beat Yugoslavia 2:1 in final in “Parc des Princes” and all three Georgians played. At the 49th minute Metreveli equalized score. At the 113th minute after the assist of Meskhi, Viktor Ponedelnik scored a goal of victory.
