Today the press conference of human rights defender, president of club “Tskaltubo” and veteran weightlifter Mamuka Tuskadze was held in “Iverioni” press club.

Tuskadze talked about the presidential elections of the Weightlifting Federation (January 28) and the situation in weightlifting. He also signed the application for the participation in the elections.

Mamuka Tuskadze (veteran weightlifter): “I decided to participate in the presidential elections of the Weightlifting Federation. I am signing the application that I want to participate in the elections. It is a pity that the Weightlifting Federation does not have an office. We have to find a person to hand the application. The slogan of our team is “Million GEL to the Georgian weightlifting”. It is amount of money which this sport needs annually for the development. I am sure this amount of money will help us gain 2 or 3 Olympic medals in Rio de Janeiro. As for my program, I am planning to help veteran weightlifters over 60. Our sportsmen failed drug test. I will appoint doctors who will control the sportsmen. My goal is to make weightlifting popular. European Championship will be held in Georgia on April 9-18 and it is a great achievement”.

Tuskadze made a statement regarding Kakhi Kakhiashvili:

“Kakhi is a good person. We cannot be opponents. I think Kakhi will not participate in the elections”.

The elections will be held on January 28. Yet, Tuskadze is the only candidate. On January 22 will be found out how many candidates will be in the elections.
