20+4: Gabelia Has Named Players for Austria

Otar Gabelia head coach of Georgian U-21 National Football Team has named 20 players who will compete at Foursome tournament in the city of Austria, Klagenfurt. The participants of this tournament are Georgian, Israeli, Romanian and Albanian U-21 Teams.

Calendar of the tournament:

March 23 : Georgia-Israel, Albania-Romania;

March 26 : Georgia-Albania, Romania-Israel;

March 29: Georgia-Romania, Albania-Israel.

As for  the  main staff Gabelia had 36 players in the main staff at the beginning and made final choice from these players. Levan Mchedlidze forward of “Empole” is injured and will not be able to compete at this tournament. Levan Kenia has just been operated on and will not be able to play for 5 months as for Ananidze he was called up for National Team.

As for Gogita Gogua midfielder of “Wolfsburg” Germany ?.. Georgian football federation has sent invitation, he thanked for invitation but said that cannot come.

Goalkeepers:  Giorgi Makaridze (“Le Manis”, France), Tornike Zarkua (“Dinamo”, Tbilisi);

Defenders:  Levan Kakubava, Nika Kvekvsekiri (Both of them - “Dinamo” Tbilisi), Nika Apakidze (“Baia”), Giorgi Otarishvili (“Spartaki”Tskhinvali),Giorgi Kachkhachishvili (“Dinamo” Batumi), Mamuka Kobakhidze (“Zestaponi”);

Midfielders:  Tornike Okriashvili (“Illichivets”, Ukraine), Nika Dzalamidze (“Widzew”, Poland), Temur Sharahenidze (“Dior”, Hungary), Irakli Kvekveskiri (PECH, Hungary) Giorgi Tekturmnidze (“Dinamo” Tbilisi), Ivane Kandelaki (without club);

Forwards: Giorgi Chanturia (“Vitesse”, Holland), Irakli Shekiladze (“Empole, Italy), Giorgi Iluridze (“Anzhy”, Russia), Irakli Kobalia (“Baia”), Davit Kakulia (“Olimpija” Moldova), Davit Khocholava (“Saburtalo”).

 

Gabelia has said to “World Sport” that there are four more  players in the main staff:

 “ I have talked to all 20 players and they said that will arrive in Austria in any case. In case of need there are four players in reserve, those are the following:  goalkeeper Nadiradze (“Dinamo”, Tbilisi), defender Tornike Kakushadze (“Merani”),midfielders – Vako Kazhaishvili (“Saburtalo”) and Tornike Tarkhnishvili (“Torpedo”, Kutaisi)”.

On March 21 at dawn Georgian U-21 team leaves for Austria.
