Akaki Khubutia was a free agent. Today he signed one-year contract with “Hapoel” Petah Tikva of Israel. The 28-year-old central defender of the Georgian national team arrived in Israel today.

“Hapoel” Petah Tikva spent the previous season in Liga Leumit but promoted to Premier League. The club won the championship 6 times and took the second place 9 times. Also, “Hapoel” won the Cup twice and lost final 6 times.  

Khubutia is the only player of the Georgian current national team who has played in 6 different countries. Akaki played for “Zvezda” of Belarus, “Kaunas” of Lithuania, “Gaz Metan” of Romania, “Samsunspor” of Turkey and “Mordovia” of Russia.
