Loss to Georgia - The Most Strange Loss of Russia

Russian internet portal sport.ru dedicated an article to the most strange losses of the Russian national football team. The loss to Georgia (0:1) on 30 April, 2003, in Tbilisi is also on this list.

“The match against Georgia was to be held in 2002 but lights were turned off on the stadium. Nobody doubted that the Russians had won and people paid more attention to organizational”.

At first UEFA Disciplinary Committee decided to hold the match with empty tribunes and the both sides protested this fact.

Later UEFA Appeal Committee changes this verdict very fast and irresponsibly. Only those spectators were allowed on the stadium who had tickets of the ruined game in 2002.

The Georgians played against the team of Gazzaev which was trying to keep 0:0. The Georgians deserved this victory, thanks to goal of Malkhaz Asatiani. Gazzaev stayed in the team till August. Georgi Iartsev led the team at European Championship”, - sport.ru wrote about the loss of the Russians.

In that match Asatiani scored goal with head at the 12th minute.
