Georgia Beat Wales

Winning the first match is a good start at such mini-tournaments. The Georgian U-19 team managed to gain 3 points against Wales. After the match Vasil Maisuradze, head coach of the Georgian team, stated he did not expect such an easy win. The hosts had advantage in both halves. As for the one scored goal, the Welsh football player scored a beautiful free kick and did not give a chance to Beka Kurdadze.

The Georgian team had a chance to score a goal at the 7th minute but Davit Jikia could not use this chance.

At the 23rd minute Aleksandre Gureshidze assisted Giorgi Papunashvili who scored goal – 1:0.

At the 25th minute Luka Zarandia took a corner kick and if Mate Tsintsadze had shot the ball stronger, the score would have increased. At the 27th minute Papunashvili assisted Jikia who scored goal in an empty net – 2:0.

At the 29th minute the Welsh goalkeeper dived and parried the shot of Otar Kakabadze.

At the 43rd minute Zarandia took another corner kick and Gureshidze scored a beautiful goal.

At the 56th minute Jikia scored another goal – 4:0. It was a very effective goal.

At the 58th minute after the assist of Giorgi Tevzadze, Jikia was throwing the ball over the head of O’Brien who was out of the penalty area. The Welsh goalkeeper stopped the ball with hands and received red card. Michael Crowe stood in the net. Mate Tsintsadze took a brilliant free kick – 5:0.

At the 77th minute Levan Shengelia had a good chance to score a goal but missed it. At the 81st minute George Williams missed his chance of scoring a goal.

4 minutes before the end of the match Tommy O’Sullivan scored a free kick.

Geraint Williams:  “The match ended up with an unpleasant result for us. We are disappointed. Georgia has a very good team with individual football players. They possess the ball well. I can say, we were scored easy goals”.

Vasil Maisuradze: “We are satisfied with the result. I did not expect to win so easily. We made accent on the first match and everything finished well for us. Now we start preparing for the match against Moldova. Tsintsadze held 4 matches in the last 10 days and is tired. I can say the same about Aburjania. We played Moldova last year. We will play as No.1 against Moldova”.

Aleksandre Gureshidze: “I am very satisfied with the match. I want to thank the boys. We will play even better”.
