“Skonto” Riga of Tamaz Pertia, Lasha Dvali and Irakli Klimiashvili will not be allowed to play at European tournaments for the next three seasons. The UEFA Financial Control Committee made such decision.

Last year “Skonto” took the second place in Latvian Virsliga and was to play in the qualifying round of Europa League. However, “Skonto” will miss European tournaments in 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. UEFA made this decision due to financial problems. Last year UEFA fined “Skonto” with 40000 EUR and threatened to cut off the club from European tournaments if it did not pay money to coaches, football players and club personnel.

The Latvian Football Federation was not going to let “Skonto” participate in Virsliga but finally, the club joined the championship from the second round.
